What this site keeps about you, why, who else handles it, and how to get rid of it. The add-on itself can't send anything anywhere: it runs inside your game, and you only share what you copy out of it.
Who runs it
Lore Forever is a fan project by Mike Liu. It isn't a company, and it shows no ads. The add-on is free; the only things for sale are optional plans and packs for Willo, the companion: more of her live answers, and replies in her finest voice. Questions about your data? Ask on Discord. You can also delete your account yourself, any time, from your account page.
What we keep, and why
Downloading, playing, listening and liking need no account. If you only do those, we keep almost nothing.
- Your account, if you sign in: when you agreed to the Terms (by signing in) and which version, and your Google account ID, email address and name, from Google sign-in. We use them to sign you in and to reach you about your feedback and what you contribute. When you start a plan, your email address and first name also get you one thank-you email from Mike, and if you cancel it, at most one note from Patrick on our team asking why, nothing more. We note that each was sent (and keep what the note said, without your address). A cookie keeps you signed in for 30 days. We also note the days you're signed in on the site (only the date, kept for 90 days, and the latest one while you have the account), and when you download Lore Forever from this site while signed in, that your account downloaded it that day. We look at these only added up over everyone, to see how many people come back and how many players with an account got the add-on here.
- Your profile: the facts about your character in the journey record you paste (its name,
realm, level, the places, quests, bosses and so on it lists), plus the name and links you add. Never the record
itself, or other players' names. It stays private until you make it public. If you connect the companion app to
keep it up to date, the companion sends that same record after each
/reloador logout, and we keep when it connected and last updated your profile, and a scrambled (hashed) copy of its key. With the record it sends how often you used the add-on's features each day (narrations started and heard to the end, questions, opening the Lore panel and Journey, pictures taken) and how many messages and new chats you had with Willo in the companion: only those numbers, never what you asked, heard or wrote. We keep them for 90 days and look at them only added up over all players, to see which features people use. - Your pictures, if you let the companion app put the pictures you take in game on your profile: the pictures, their captions, and where and when you took them (realm, zone, spot on the map, time). They show on your profile, and only while it's public. Anyone can report one; a picture several people report is hidden. A report keeps a scrambled (hashed) copy of the sender's IP address, salted for that picture alone, so each person counts once; it goes when the picture does.
- Questions you ask Willo in the companion app, which you connect to your account (Willo needs you signed in, and while you're signed out it does nothing): your question, what the companion knows about your game for it (your character's race, class and level, where you are, your target and quests, a little of your journey and the recent messages of that chat, and for your goals what the add-on last saved of that character: its gold, experience, profession skills, riding and reputations, and its gold and level on each of its last days played) go through our site to Google's API, which writes the answer. We count how many questions your account asked each day, for the daily limit and, looked at only added up over everyone, to see how many players use Willo each day and week (kept 90 days), and what answers cost us, added up over everyone (and, on a plan, what your own answers cost this month, for its monthly limit). Your chats are kept on your PC. What our site keeps of your questions and answers is in the next two points.
- Help improve Willo's answers, a setting in the companion app that's on unless you turn it off: to find Willo's wrong or unhelpful answers and fix them, we keep each question you ask her and the answer you got for 14 days, then delete it. With it we keep when you asked, the zone you were in, who answered (Willo or a character), and how the answer was made (which model, how long it took, whether it looked something up, and any error). We also keep your character's race, class, level and faction and who you were targeting (with your characters' names taken out), and, when she said a shorter answer out loud than the one she wrote, what she said. It's anonymized: no email, name, account or IP address, only a scrambled (salted hash) code so one player's questions can be read together, and your characters' names are taken out of the text. They're never shown to other players. To stop, untick Help improve Willo's answers in the companion app's Settings, under App & answers: from then on nothing new is kept, and what was kept goes within 14 days, or right away when you delete your account. A companion app from before the setting keeps nothing. You can read each one, and erase it or all of them, on What Willo keeps. While it's on, we also note on each kept answer what happened next, without any extra words from you: whether you asked the same thing again, said it was wrong, cut her off, her voice didn't play, or the answer failed. These notes are part of the kept answer and go with it after 14 days.
- When you tell Willo an answer was wrong, or show you're fed up with one, or press "Not right" (or "Something's wrong") under it, with the setting above on or off: we keep what you said, the reasons you picked and any note, the question and answer it was about and the zone you were in. It's anonymized like the kept answers: no email, name, account or IP address, only the same scrambled (salted hash) code, and your characters' names are taken out. We keep these 90 days, so we can tell how many people noticed the same thing and fix Willo's answers. If you tick Tell me when it's fixed, we keep that one until it's fixed (at most a year) so Willo can tell you once that she's learned it. They go when you delete your account or erase them on What Willo keeps; a correction we checked can become one of the facts Willo answers everyone with, without anything about you. A thumbs up only marks the kept answer, if there is one. Saying "never mind" or "no, I meant…" counts only while Help improve Willo's answers is on.
- What Willo keeps (its page, signed in): everything Willo keeps about you, in one place, where you can change or erase any of it, erase everything at once, or download all of it as one file. When you erase something there, we note when, so Willo's app on your computer clears her own copy (and, with Erase everything, your chats with her) the next time she's open, and tells us it has, so the page can say so. Its switch for Help improve Willo's answers stops us keeping your questions at once; we note how the switch is set in Willo's app, so the page shows it, and the app takes the page's choice the next time she's open.
- Talking to Willo, if you turn it on in the companion app: the microphone listens only while you hold the talk key; your voice becomes text on your PC and never leaves it. The text of what you asked goes on like a typed question (above). Willo's spoken replies (to questions you ask out loud: on the free plan, your first 30; on a plan, her answers to them) are said by a voice service: the words of each reply (and of characters who answer you in person) go through our site to it, and nothing else goes with them. Willo's own voice, made on your PC, only stands in when that service is slow or down. We don't keep the words; we count your spoken replies (this month's, and on the free plan your first 30) and what they cost us.
- Willo for iPhone, if you sign in on the app: you sign in with Apple, or link the phone to your account here with a code. With Sign in with Apple we get from Apple a code for your Apple ID that only we can read, your email address (or Apple's private relay address, if you chose to hide yours) and, the first time, your name; a verified, non-relay address joins the account that already has it. Questions you ask Willo on the phone go through our site to Google's API like the companion app's (above), with your character's name, level, race and class, the recent messages of that chat and, when they bear on the question, lines from Willo's notebook. The app asks before your first question and you can withdraw that under You. Talk uses the microphone only while you're asking, after you tap it: Apple's speech recognition turns your words into text on the phone, or on Apple's servers when your iPhone can't do it on the phone itself, and the text goes on like a typed question. Spoken replies are said by the same voice services as above. Your chats and the app's settings stay on the phone; the app keeps a short log of what it did (no questions or answers) on the phone only.
- If you let Willo see the game (a separate choice in the companion app, off until you turn it on): one picture of the game window, only the game's own window, goes with that spoken question through our site to Google's API, which writes the answer. We don't keep it unless you separately choose screenshot improvement below. A copy stays in your chat on your PC (the newest 300).
- Screenshot improvement is a separate choice on What Willo keeps, off by default for everyone, including current players, and needs “Help improve Willo's answers” on. If enabled, we may keep the exact game image already supplied with an answer you report as wrong, plus a 1% sample of other answers with images, up to 3 per player per day and no more than 50 a day across all players. No new screenshots or video are taken. Images may contain character names, nameplates or chat and are not anonymous: Willo blanks out only the small ring of stars her add-on draws on your screen, and nothing else is hidden. The image is kept with the question and reply it came with (names in the text are removed as usual). Only you and the Lore Forever team reviewing answers can see it; it never appears on public profiles. An image is kept with its question and reply until you erase it, even after the answer log's 14 days. You can view and erase them on What Willo keeps; erasing the answer or account also erases its image, and turning this choice or answer logging off erases them all. Reporting never overrides the choice.
- Friends in Willo, if you add friends in the companion app: who you're friends with, the requests you sent and got, who you blocked, and the messages you and your friends write to each other. Only the two of you can read a conversation. Your friends see your character's name and your profile name (and your profile's link if it's public), never your account's name or email, and whether your Willo is on right now ("Willo connected" or away; never when you were last on), unless you turn "Show when my Willo is on" off. A message can carry a place, an item, a quest, a character or a story you ask Willo to send; it's kept like any message. We keep messages 90 days, then delete them; removing or blocking a friend deletes your conversation with them for both of you. If you report a player, we keep their latest messages to you and your note for 90 days to look into it.
- Sharing where you are with friends, off until you turn it on in the companion app: while it's on, the companion sends your character's name, level, zone, the quest you're tracking, your guild's name and what you did in the last week (levels gained, new places, quests finished, bosses beaten), and your friends (only them) can see it and ask Willo about it. We keep only the latest; turning it off deletes it.
- Willo's notebook: the notes and to-do lists Willo writes down when you ask her to ("remember…",
"add … to my list"), the spots you ask her to pin ("pin this spot": the place you stand, the day and, from the
add-on's Ask box, the spot on the map), and anything you write in the Notebook tab yourself, a page for each of your
characters and one for all of them. We keep it with your account so it's the same on each device, until you change it or delete your
account; only you can read it. When it bears on a question, the lines that do go with the question to Google's API,
like the rest of what the companion sends (above). The companion keeps a copy on your PC so it opens at once, and
the Notebook tab downloads all of it as one file. Goals you tell Willo are lines in it too (under Goals); after
each
/reloador logout the companion sends what the add-on saved of that character (above) so Willo can tell how they're going and tick off the ones you reach. With your profile kept up to date, the companion also sends the latest of those numbers for each character (level, gold, skills and reputations), and we keep only the newest, so Willo can work out your goals when you ask from your phone, always as of that last save. What Willo keeps shows it (Your last save) and erases it; deleting your account does too. - The companion app's daily check-in: once a day the companion app tells us it's in use, with a random number made on your PC (scrambled) and the app's and the add-on's version numbers, with no account, name or game data and without keeping your IP address; we keep these 90 days to count installs in use, and you can turn it off in the companion's settings. With it go anonymous usage counts: how often each feature of the add-on and the companion was used each day, how often Willo's answers or her voice failed and how many you rated, and which voice, language, level range and settings were on, only numbers and those few choices, never what you asked, heard or wrote. The setting "Share anonymous usage counts" (in older versions, "Count this install once a day") turns both off.
- Lore Forever's error reports, only if you say yes in the companion app (off until you do): when the add-on runs into a problem of its own (a Lua error, or the game stopping it from doing something), the companion app sends us what the add-on noted about it: the error's text, which of the add-on's files and lines it came from, how often and when it happened, and the add-on's, the app's and the game's version and language, with the random number from the daily check-in. Never your account, your characters' names (the app takes them out first) or your IP address. We keep each error 90 days after it last happened, to find and fix it, and you can turn this off again in the companion's settings.
- Where a visit came from: when you open the site from another site, a link we made for an article (loreforeverwow.com/a/…) or an address with ?src=, we count the visit under that link's name or the other site's address (only its address, never the page), and the page you landed on. The first time, your browser keeps just those two in a cookie for 30 days, with no ID, so that if you then download, make an account, connect Willo or start a plan, it counts for where you came from. It's only used for those counts, and never shared.
- Inviting friends: your invite link's code (made the first time you see your link) and how many times the link was opened. When someone opens a link, their browser keeps its code in a cookie for 30 days, and if they then make an account or connect Willo for the first time, we note that they joined with that link, who shared it (a player's account, or a creator), when they connected Willo and got her first answer, and the rewards it gave. The page a link opens shows the sharer's character name only if their profile is public, never their Google name. So that nobody counts as their own friend, we keep one-way codes (made so they can't be turned back into what they came from) for: the browser you sign in with (a random code in a cookie, kept 400 days), the computer Willo runs on (made by Willo from the computer's own ID), and the card that paid a friend's first month (from Stripe's card fingerprint, never the card). When a player a creator's link brought pays for a plan, we note what they paid (never card details) and the creator's share of it, so we can pay the creator.
- The creator program: what you send when you apply on Creators (your name, channel, audience, how to reach you and your note), what /admin decided, your earnings and payouts. If you set up payouts through Stripe, Stripe keeps your identity, tax and bank details; we keep only your Stripe account's id and whether it can be paid.
- Voice recordings: the files you upload to the voice studio. When you send a voice, also the narrator release form: the name you sign, your email, your Discord handle if you give one, and your country.
- A voice you lend: the recording you send on Lend your voice, the credit you choose, the name you sign, and the version and date of the terms you agreed to. The recording is kept private and used only to make your voice, on our own computer.
- Shared game text: the quest, gossip and book text you share from the add-on, on the Contribute page or from the companion if you turn that on, with the race, class and gender of the character who saw it (never its name) and the credit name you give, if any. When Willo is connected to your account, what it shares is linked to your account so you can see it under My contributions on your account page. Only the credit name you type in Willo's settings is ever shown publicly, never your account.
- Willo's style and your tales, if you have a plan: the style you pick, what you write about how Willo should talk to you, your own versions of characters, and whether our check let them through. Google's API does that check, and only your own chats use them.
- Narration reports: which narration and voice, what's wrong and your note, when you report a recording.
- Translations: the languages you pick, the edits you make on the translation dashboard, and what you send through the translation forms.
- Feedback: what you write, the name you give and your country.
- The email list: your address, if you sign up to hear about new versions. We only use it for that.
- A daily hash of your IP address, never the address itself. It's salted with a random value that's thrown away after a day or two, so it can't be turned back into the address. It caps how many forms, likes and reports one person can send in a day, and tells apart the people sharing game text.
Your country comes from your connection; we don't ask for it. Downloads and clicks on the download and Discord
links are counted per day as plain numbers, with the source the link names (like ?src=lore) and
nothing about who clicked, apart from the download noted for your account while you're signed in (above). Visits
to profile pages, shares of them and profile updates are counted the same way, with nothing about who visited,
shared or updated. Your browser also remembers a few
small things, like which version's news you've seen and, while you're signed in, the name at the top of the page,
but those stay on your device.
Optional Google Analytics
On public pages, when Google Analytics is enabled, we ask before loading it. Allow analytics lets Google Analytics 4 count public page visits, published article reads, and clicks on download and Discord links. These clicks show interest; they do not tell us that a download finished, an account was made or a purchase happened. Decline analytics is equally available, and the site works either way.
If you allow it, Google receives analytics cookie identifiers, connection information (including your IP address while processing the request), browser/device information, a public page address without its query or fragment, and the referring site's origin without its page path. We do not send account details, email addresses, profile pages, searches, form contents or chats. Advertising storage, personalization and Google signals are off.
Use Analytics settings at the bottom of a public page to change your mind. Withdrawing stops collection on that page and removes accessible Google Analytics cookies from this site; it cannot undo data already sent to Google. We remember your choice for up to 180 days, and analytics cookies expire after up to 180 days. If your browser blocks storage, your choice may need to be made again on another page. These controls are separate from Cloudflare's cookie-free counts and our own Sources counts described above.
Google handles this information under its privacy policy. Analytics reports can include country-level location and device categories. Analytics is not used on account, profile, admin, contribution or editing pages.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores everything above (its database and file storage). It also counts visits, without cookies, runs Turnstile, a spam check, when we switch it on, and sends the thank-you email and the note if you cancel a plan (it gets your email address and the email itself, with your first name in it).
- Google handles sign-in, serves the site's fonts, writes profile stories (from your character's facts, never your email or name) and writes Willo's answers in the companion app (from your question and its game context, with the picture of the game window if you let Willo see the game, never your email or name).
- Apple handles Sign in with Apple in the iPhone app (and its private relay email, if you chose it) and, when your iPhone can't do it on the phone, turns what you say to Talk into text. It gets your voice for that and nothing else from us.
- Anthropic: our nightly check of Willo's answers reads the questions and answers we keep (above) with its AI model, Claude, to find the wrong ones. It gets that text and nothing about you.
- OpenRouter and Fish Audio record your profile's story in our narrators' voices, for the Listen button on your profile (earlier recordings were made by fal.ai): they get the story's text and nothing else.
- DeepInfra (Willo's studio voice) and Inworld (her finest voice) say Willo's spoken replies. Inworld also says the replies of characters who answer you in person in a voice of their own, and Fish Audio, through OpenRouter with OpenRouter's data collection turned off, stands in for those when Inworld is slow or down: each gets the words of the reply it says and nothing else.
- Stripe handles payments for plans and Willo's finest voice, and sells them as the merchant of record through Link, which has your payment details under its own privacy policy. We keep only your plan, your packs (what's left of them and Stripe's payment id) and Stripe's customer id, never your card details. If you cancel a plan, we keep when, how long you had it, what it paid and the reason you picked or wrote on Stripe's page, and the team sees that in its chat without your name or email. Delete my account also cancels your plan. A refund request you send through the feedback form is kept like other feedback, with your account.
- Discord: feedback, voice and translation submissions are posted to a private channel so we see them quickly. Never your email address or your signature.
- GitHub and CurseForge host the downloads, so they see it when you download.
How long we keep it
Your account, profile, recordings and translation edits stay until you delete them or your account. Your email stays on the list until you unsubscribe. Feedback is kept to make Lore Forever better.
Delete my account removes, right away: your account (Google ID, email, name and links), your sign-in and the days you were signed in, how many questions you asked Willo each day, the questions and answers kept to improve Willo's answers, the downloads noted for your account, your profile, its pictures and connected apps, your share link, your voices and every recording you uploaded, the release you agreed to in the voice studio, a voice you lent (its recording, test pack and credit), the narration and picture reports you sent while signed in, the languages and edits on your translation dashboard, and your friends in Willo: your friend list and requests, the messages you sent and got, where you shared you are, reports you sent or that were sent about you, every page of Willo's notebook, the last save kept for your goals, and the note that we sent you a thank-you email.
Some things stay, and here's why:
- The record of a voice you sent (the name you signed, email, Discord, country, the release version and the date) stays as proof of the license you granted. You can still ask for your pack to be taken down, as the narrator release says.
- The record of a voice you lent (the name you signed, that you confirmed you're 18 or older, the terms version, and when you agreed and withdrew) stays as proof of what you agreed to, with no link to your account. Withdrawing a lent voice keeps the same record.
- Feedback you sent stays, without your email.
- Shared game text stays, since it's the game's own words, with the credit name you gave, if any.
- Translation submissions and bad-translation reports stay, with what you typed in them.
- Text and recordings already in a released version of Lore Forever stay in it, under CC BY-SA, with no link to your account.
- Your email list sign-up isn't tied to your account: unsubscribe to leave. Unsubscribing keeps a scrambled (hashed) copy of the address, not the address itself, so nothing we send reaches it again.
- That your Google account had Willo's free starter answers stays, as a one-way code made from your Google ID (not the ID itself), so deleting your account and signing in again doesn't bring them back. The same goes for the beta offer (a free Hero month, a Hero kept free to that month's end, and 50% off a first month): that your account had one, and when its free month started, stays in the same way, and so does how many of your first answers in Willo's finest voice you've had, when your first-run trial started and how many of its tries you've used.
- That you joined Willo with someone's share link stays in the same one-way way, without your account, so your Google account counts as a friend only once and the person who shared it keeps their count. A creator's record of what the players they brought paid stays, without the account, so we can pay them, and so do a creator's own earnings and payouts, without the account.
- That you had a plan stays without your account: when it started and ended, and if you cancelled it, when and the reason you gave, so we can count how long plans are kept.
Your choices
- Delete your account, or only your profile, on your account page. Remove single recordings in the voice studio, and single pictures on your profile or in the companion.
- Make your profile private again: untick Public on your account page.
- In Willo's Friends tab: stop sharing where you are, stop showing when your Willo is on, remove, block or report a friend (removing or blocking deletes your conversation with them).
- Stop the companion app updating your profile, and sending its usage counts with it: Disconnect it under Connected apps on your account page (that also signs Willo out), or turn off keeping your profile up to date in the companion. Turn off "Share anonymous usage counts" in the companion's settings to stop its daily check-in and the counts with it.
- Stop all email from us, the list, the thank-you email and a note about a cancelled plan: unsubscribe.
- Anything else, like seeing what we hold about you or removing a voice you sent: ask on Discord.
Age
Lore Forever is made for World of Warcraft players, so it's meant for the same ages as the game. The voice studio and Lend your voice are for adults: you must be 18 or older to send recordings or lend your voice.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes too.
